Alejandro Rizzo Nervo
I am a visual artist, with a BFA in Photography at OCAD University. My practice is based on photography, collage, photomontage, and non traditional printing processes that deal with politics and LGBTQ+ issues, and it is made to expose problems related to my personal experiences. Works produced have been part of group shows in Canada and Italy.
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. At 21 years of age, my family decided it was time to flee out of a coming political disaster. Now, currently working as an immigrant in Canada, I feel the need to expose these problems through my art, creating a hybrid between fabricated and documented photography. I am currently working on a series of photographs that talk about contemporary Venezuelan social and political disputes through digital collages, sound, and installation of large size prints.
